Marcelle Alix est fière de présenter à Berlin le duo d’artistes Louise Hervé et Chloé Maillet et Ernesto Sartori, pour un projet commun inédit.

"Donc voilà l'ensemble des possibilités :

- on laisse un flou dans l’histoire et on suppose que les hommes de l'intérieur du monde, ou du sous-sol, correspondraient à ceux qui ont choisi une autre géométrie et renié le parallélépipède....
- on laisse un flou dans l’histoire et on suppose que les hommes de l'intérieur du monde, ou du sous-sol, étaient une colonie fondée par ceux qui ont choisi une autre géométrie et renié le parallélépipède.... (ceux-ci viendraient d'ailleurs d’une autre dimension)
- on laisse un flou dans l’histoire et on suppose que les hommes de l'intérieur du monde, ou du sous-sol, étaient les ennemis de ceux qui ont choisi une autre géométrie et renié le parallélépipède... (et qui voudraient tout détruire en surface alors que les hommes du sous-sol se battent pour nous, mais ça c'est une possibilité que l’on ne devrait prendre en compte que si on voulait faire un film pour la télévision, ce qui n'est pas à exclure)

A partir de ces présupposés, Ernesto Sartori présentera une sorte de vocabulaire (en volume), un peu didactique, pour apprendre à connaître (et à reconnaître) les formes de base qu’il emploie, suivi d'une série de plans (des axonométries), techniques, mais non dénués de valeur plastique (bien sûr), représentant le fonctionnement interne des espaces qu’il propose à l'humanité, en les adaptant peut-être ici à cette histoire de "monde central", peut-être dans une optique "monde des cavernes". En lien direct avec ces questions, Louise Hervé et Chloé Maillet donneront un exposé public et documenté sur les rapports entre certaines espèces de rats-taupes nus d’Afrique, des anciens sumériens ayant par un hasard de l’histoire survécu dans une grotte volcanique, Gilgamesh et l’importance de la géométrie dans la science-fiction à BDO (Big Dumb Object). "

Nées en 1981, Louise Hervé et Chloé Maillet travaillent ensemble à Paris depuis 2000. À travers l’I.I.I.I (International Institute of Important Items), association créée en 2001, elles produisent des conférences performées, des films de genre et des installations. Leur travail a été montré récemment au Grazer Kunstverein (Autriche), au Palais de Tokyo (Paris), au Mac/ Val (Vitry-Sur-Seine), à la Synagogue de Delme, à La Box (Bourges). A l’issue d’une résidence en Angleterre (bourse Villa Médicis Hors-les-murs) à l’été 2010, elles développeront un projet d’exposition à la galerie Marcelle Alix en septembre 2010.

Né en 1982, Ernesto Sartori est diplômé de l’Ecole des Beaux-Arts de Nantes. Il développe dans son travail un monde voisin du nôtre, constitué de plans inclinés et verticaux, et qu’il imagine soumis à de sévères règles géométriques. Dans des constructions qui vont de la maquette aux assemblages de bouts de bois découpés ou juste récupérés, du recyclage d’atelier à l’exposition d’outils de travail, on trouve des figurines d’animaux, des balles de ping-pong, des ballons de baskets, de la corde… Il a reçu le Prix de la Ville de Nantes en 2008 et bénéficiera d’une première exposition personnelle à la galerie Marcelle Alix au printemps 2010.

Marcelle Alix is proud to present Louise Hervé & Chloé Maillet and Ernesto Sartori in Berlin, with a new project.

“So, here are all the possibilities:

- we keep the story a little bit fuzzy and we suppose that the people who live inside the world, or the underground, would be those who chose another geometry and rejected the parallelepiped…
- we keep the story a little bit fuzzy and we suppose that the people who live inside the world, or the underground, belong to a colony which was founded by those who chose another geometry and rejected the parallelepiped… (they would incidentally come from another dimension)
- we keep the story a little bit fuzzy and we suppose that the people who live inside the world, or the underground were the enemies of those who chose another geometry and rejected the parallelepiped… (and who wanted to destroy everything above ground, when the people of the underground were fighting for us, but this is a possibility that we should take into account in case we want to make a film for TV, which is still conceivable).

Drawing from these hypotheses, Ernesto Sartori will present a sort of vocabulary (in volume), in a didactic way for people to understand and recognize the basic shapes he uses, and a series of plans (axonometrics) —technical but not without any aesthetic value (of course)—which represent the internal mechanisms of the spaces he draws for people. Those will perhaps be adjusted to our story of the underground world, making this universe a sort of “cave world”. Acting in direct link to these issues, Louise Hervé & Chloé Maillet will give a public and documented talk on the relationships between a certain kind of naked mole-rats from Africa, ancient Sumerians who survived in a volcanic cave by sheer historical chance, Gilgamesh and the importance of geometry in BDO (Big Dumb Object) science fiction.”

Louise Hervé & Chloé Maillet were born in 1981. They have worked together in Paris since 2000. Through the I.I.I.I (International Institute of Important Items), they produce genre movies, performed conferences and installations which have recently been programmed in Grazer Kunstverein (Austria), Palais de Tokyo (Paris, F), MAC/VAL (Vitry-sur-Seine, F), Synagogue de Delme (F), La Box (Bourges, F). Ernesto Sartori was born in 1982. He graduated from Nantes School of Fine Arts. He is developing a world akin to ours, an artificial world, made up of sloping and vertical planes, which he sees subjected to strict geometric rules. In constructions ranging from maquettes to assemblages of scraps of wood cut up or just retrieved—from studio retrieval to the exhibition of work tools—we find figurines of animals, ping-pong balls, basketball balls, rope… He received the City of Nantes Award in 2008 and will have a solo show at Marcelle Alix in the spring of 2010.
